Speaker: Brian Dahl

"FMEA: A tool for risk management"

FMEA is a tool for managing risk. How does FMEA relate to Six-Sigma? FMEA has us look at new product design from a different perspective. Instead of enumerating the features of a product, we are going to determine the number and type of failures of a product. Additionally, determine the severity of each and likelihood of occurrence. Are the failures repairable or catastrophic? I intend to take an example that everyone is familiar with and do a simple FMEA. This talk is not intended to be a lecture but a hands-on interactive lesson that everyone should gain value from.

Brian tests new product introductions in an R & D laboratory environment for Agilent technologies. This environment is conducive for practical applications of statistics, distribution theory, design of experiments, FMEA and simulation modeling. Brian is a Motorola University Certified Six- Sigma Green Belt as well as being a Certified White and Black-Belt problem solver. He also holds American Society of Quality certifications for Reliability and Quality engineering. Brian has taught classes for Webster University for over 25 years in Colorado Springs, and over 10 years online. Brian participates in "Agilent After School", a program developed to teach Fifth-graders science. Brian is the chapter's Chair for Certification.
Brian has a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and a Masters from the University of Northern Colorado.

Receive 0.3 recertification units for participating.

Like our other meetings, this meeting is open to the public, you don't have to be a member to join in the discussion

NEW LOCATION: Bambino's Italian Eatery

2849 E Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs

The meal will be served all-you-can-eat banquet style and will consist of Pasta (both Mostaccoli Alfredo and Lasagna), Various Pizzas, Salad, and garlic bread. The meal, priced at $13.00 includes soda, tea, tax, and gratuity. Billing is per patron, so you can pay as we've been doing in the past (e.g. cash or credit card.)
Those who would like to have something different may order from the menu (at menu prices) but will have a gratuity added as the meal is being served in the banquet room and that is part of Bambino's stated policy.
The room is large (holds 95) so if you wish to invite a friend or colleague to come to the meeting, there will be space for them.
After the meeting, we'll be asking our membership (especially those who attend the February meeting) what they think of the new venue, so come, join us and help us decide if this will be our new 9 month meeting home.

See you February 8!
